• Kim JacksonThe one where Kim explains that life is not limited.

“When we focus on leading a passionate, meaningful life, we are also inadvertently creating a spectacular ripple effect of inspiration in the lives around us. When one person follows a dream, tries something new, or takes a daring leap, everyone nearby feels their passionate energy; and before too long, they are making their own daring leaps while simultaneously inspiring others.”

Here’s the thing about passion: we often have no idea where it comes from.

In this week’s Everyday Happiness Pajama Podcast we continue our series on ‘People and their Passions’. I interview Kim Jackson, the proprietor of Driving Miss Daisy Chilliwack, a driving service that helps seniors retain independence and get from place to place. Kim is passionately committed to supporting seniors including a special affinity for those with Alzheimers or dementia.

She is a woman on the move, with a love for travel and for taking beautiful pictures along the way. Kim honestly can’t put her finger on how or where her passion for comforting seniors was born. She noticed that she had a bit of a gift for relating to the elderly – helping them in shops and so on – and, in a serendipitous set of circumstances, ended up purchasing the Driving Miss Daisy franchise.

She’s never looked back (except for in her rear-views while driving of course – she is a very good driver) but she is looking ahead, dreaming up escorted senior’s travel packages.

Up next? Machu Picchu.  Care to climb with Kim?

That’s the way it is with passion – it emerges. One day, you’re helping someone to the car with their groceries and the next you are seeing the wonders of the world.

The formula: Notice, trust, act. Rinse and repeat.

As always, special thanks to Greg Stuart of Grene Genes Productions for tech support. The beautiful theme music is ‘Before and Again’ composed and recorded by GJR Stuart at Grene Genes Productions, Maple Ridge BC. Those seamless transitions and magic flourishes are all his.
